How do you maximize your market research efforts? It may not be surprising that besides gathering data, I view market research as a marketing opportunity. So, I recommend leveraging your findings in various ways. Here are some examples:

  • Poll or multiple choice answers can be transformed into infographics for social media or form the basis of an article if the findings are interesting. Original research establishes you as an authority.
  • Feedback from a current customer can shape future work and help create case studies or testimonials that you can then share in your marketing materials.
  • After positive feedback, you can prompt participants to leave a review on sites like Google, Trustpilot, or Facebook. Many survey platforms can direct users to a page with a review link based on their answer to a question like ‘Would you recommend us.’
  • Alternatively, you could ask people who seem happy if they know anyone like them who might benefit from your product or service, and make it really easy for them to share details or give them a discount code to use.

The effort that you can put into market research is easier to justify when it leads to referrals and promotional materials.

Next week we ask, ‘Are you close to striking gold?‘
