Do you know the three levels of brand positioning?

The first is Comparative Positioning. This takes your product and service and compares it to alternatives on the market where you’re trying to outperform the others that are available, based on price or quality. It is the most common brand positioning strategy.

The second is the Differentiated Positioning Strategy. This is taking something unique about your product and service that can’t be copied, it could be either patentable or a secret source. It’s great if you can take this strategy, but is only really for some industries.

The last one is my favorite, the Segmentation Strategy, where your product or service is marketed to the specific needs of a particular customer segment.

So which strategies do you use and could you look at a different brand positioning strategy?

Next week, what does your market position mean to your customers?
