Software solution helps minimise cold storage transport costs
A technology company which specialises in the development of transport management solutions is working with the Chiltern Cold Storage Group to implement a new hi-tech transport management system. The specialised software has been developed and supplied by Norwich based company Proteo.
Chiltern manages all aspects of the temperature controlled supply chain and currently has a fleet of 40 vehicles. The new Proteo system, known as Haulier Enterprise, will help to reduce fuel bills and improve work flows. Fully integrated within this system is the company’s Fleet Metrik device, which provides time/place vehicle history data for forensic analysis, useful when dealing with insurance claims and premium increases.
“Using the system will enable us to ensure that our customers benefit from all the service advantages of working with a highly efficient, high-tech haulier,” comments Paul Jackson, MD of Chiltern Cold Storage.
The Proteo system provides time/place vehicle data and also reports vehicle movements, providing a complete fleet overview and enabling Chiltern to set their own ‘GeoFences’ with exact precision, and to locate their nearest vehicle. The system also simplifies transport processes from planning, traceability and vehicle telemetry.
“It’s a one stop solution that satisfies all of our requirements,” adds Mr Jackson. “The system provides us with even more detailed online tracking of vehicles and loads, reports on driver and vehicle performance as well as vital business information to help us maintain our controls and efficiencies. It manages every aspect of our business, including directly entering orders on to the system and generating the paperwork, helping us to work more efficiently.”
