Girl sat on park bench looking at mobile friendly websiteFor many companies, the impression that their website makes is a big deal. Does it make them look slick and professional? Does it make them look trustworthy and friendly? Whatever impression you want to make on a potential client, look at HOW people are viewing your website. The results may surprise you.

Mobile friendly website

Over 50% of people looking at a website will be using a mobile device to access your site. So, whether they are on the bus to work or sitting in the park at lunchtime, they are trying to find out about what you do. The implications for this are huge if your site is not properly optimised for mobile viewing.

First of all, it will be virtually impossible for you to reach the top of Google with a site that isn’t mobile optimised. Because so many people use mobile devices, Google now take into account whether your site can be successfully viewed on a mobile screen. If not, it will be marked down. This means that in the competitive world of website search, you will be at a significant disadvantage before you even start.

The equally serious issue with not having a mobile friendly website is that the browser is instantly deterred. So, even if they do find you through Google, their first urge is to look at the next site. Why? Because you have instantly created a bad impression and have made it DIFFICULT for them to find out about what you do.

It’s like putting up a massive obstacle course in the way of somebody trying to walk through the front door of a shop. You simply wouldn’t do it. You would surely be more likely to try to make it as easy as possible to walk into the shop by having glass frontages so that people can see what’s inside to tempt them in.

Make the change

If you still don’t have a fully mobile friendly website, make fixing this a top priority in 2017. It could easily result in tens of thousands of pounds in extra business – paying for itself many times over in the first year alone.

Think about what you do when you come across a website that isn’t mobile-friendly. Unless it’s the only site that offers what you want, you simply wouldn’t bother with it. You’d visit the next site on your search. That’s what over 50% of your prospects are doing when they click onto your site. So do something about it this month.
