This month, I’m sharing a quick summary of the four sections of our guide, “How to Create a Marketing Plan.”
First up: setting your goals and targets!
Start by reviewing your business plan. What opportunities stand out? Which products or services do you want to focus on? Maybe you want to boost awareness for a new product or encourage repeat customers. These insights will shape your strategy.
Next, build a sales plan. Identify your revenue goals, your current status, and the gap to close. Break it into monthly targets and decide which products or services will help you reach them.
Then, set clear marketing targets. Be specific. Instead of “sell more,” try: Generate 50 prequalified leads per month for [product] from [audience].
Finally, match your targets with the right marketing activities, this is where the ideas that will inspire the marketing plan come in. Want repeat sales? Try email campaigns, birthday coupons, or subscriptions. Looking to cross-sell? Add bundles or related products to your site. Want more referrals? Offer shareable discounts for customers.
By linking your business goals to specific actions, you’ll create a solid plan for success.
Next week, we’ll move onto the second step – Market Positioning. Don’t forget, you can download our guide and other resources from our website!
