Marketing and PR

As a marketing and PR agency, getting our clients on the front page of a national newspaper like The Times or in the pages of a glossy magazine like Vogue might sound great, but unless you have a really newsworthy story it’s pretty hard to achieve.  Furthermore, the national press may not always be the best place to be seen if you have a locally based business that draws its customers from around Market Harborough.

While the way that news is disseminated and presented is evolving from printed publications to going online, local news is still very important. If you have a customer- facing business such as an estate agency, shop or restaurant, many of your customers will come from the vicinity and so having a high profile in the local Harborough media is hugely beneficial.

As a marketing and PR agency with clients operating in a range of industries, we target our press stories carefully, depending upon whether a client would benefit most from  coverage in the trade press (mainly business to business), national or local media. The good news is that some stories are suitable for both national and regional coverage with just a little adaptation.

Here are just a few local stories that we have had published in the Market Harborough and Leicestershire over the last few weeks.

Story for Naylors estate agency:

MD William Naylor felt that much of the press about the property market was negative and wanted to demonstrate that there is much to be positive about in the Market Harborough housing market.  This story highlights the advantages of Market Harborough as a commuter town, also linking into the topical national story of rail strikes. http://bit.ly/2pCsR2L

Story for the Angel Hotel:

Although people come to stay at the Angel Hotel from across the UK and beyond, this was very much a story for local businesses about the inaugural meeting of a new women-only networking group. The Harborough Mail is widely read by people in the area and also has a business section so was ideal for the story. http://bit.ly/2q9qnG0

Story for Sustainable Harborough:

This is very much a local story. Not-for-profit organisation Sustainable Harborough was looking to raise awareness of their community garden on the border of Market Harborough and Northamptonshire. This was part of a strategy to encourage volunteers to come forward as well as spreading the word about events planned for 2017.This story featured in various local publications – this one is taken from Active magazine which is distributed across Leicestershire. With a focus on healthy lifestyles, this magazine has the perfect audience for the gardening story. https://issuu.com/theactivemag/docs/southleics-march2017

Many of our clients tell us that their customers comment on the stories that they see in the press. As well as raising awareness in the local area, regular stories can help position as an expert in your field but with the local roots that people like. They are also great to share on your website and social media.
