Marketing support for Heart of the Shires

Description of company

Heart of the Shires is a Northamptonshire based shopping village. The quaint site is home to over 20 independent shops that all occupy the once present stables of a 17th century farm. Renovation work is apparent throughout but much of the rustic charm of the farm that remains has become a key attraction point for visitors.

The Challenge

The site owner was looking to outsource marketing efforts and contacted the Ideal Marketing Company to increase social media following, provide event organisation support and increase the publicity of the shopping village in local press and surrounding areas.

The Ideal Solution

As part of an ongoing commitment from the management at Heart of the Shires, tenants on the site receive marketing services as part of their tenancy fee. For this reason, our activities have stretched further than just for the shopping village itself and we keep in close contact with many tenants to ensure we’re aware of the latest offers and events.

Due to the scale, and variety of clientele, our marketing efforts have spanned many activities. The first port of call was to rebrand the shopping village. A new logo was created, the colour scheme was changed from green to purple and a new website was made.

To gain publicity, we have organised many events at the shopping village. This has included a classic car show, a vintage fair, a royal picnic for families as part of the Queens 90th birthday celebrations, and a baking competition hosted by the Great British Bake Off winner Francis Quinn. Although all different, together, these events helped to gain exposure and bring new persons to Heart of the Shires.

Updates and offers from the shopping villages are posted onto the website’s regularly updated blog. All of the latest offers and promotions are then summed up in a monthly email that is sent to subscribers of the newsletter.

What was achieved?

Interaction and engagement on all social media platforms has also increased since we began running their social channels. This has resulted in the number of likes on Facebook increasing significantly since we began. Their website traffic is now over 3 times the number of visits to the old site.

Other activities have included general PR, competitions, and market research to visitors.
