As you might be aware, the upcoming Dragon Soup on the 28th June will be our final one of the season.
We’re packing up, swimming trunks and all, and taking a well-earned break for a couple of months, but never fear we’ll be back – revived and recovered – ready to begin our autumn/winter season in September.
The June Dragon Soup will be our sixth meeting and over the course of 2016 we have already raised over £1,000 for a number of worthwhile local organisations as voted for by you, the attendees.
In case you didn’t already know, Dragon Soup is a monthly networking group in Market Harborough that supports start-ups, community organisations and charities. Each meeting involves 2 or 3 ‘pitches’ from local organisations, presenting a specific idea that they would like funding for.
Guests then discuss over a bowl of soup which project should receive the funding. How much is at stake depends on the number of people attending. Each person pays £10 upon arrival so if there are 50 people, the winner will walk away with £500.
One of our biggest success stories yet was Race Harborough who won £210 to put towards a new start and finish race arch for the various race events they organise in the area. The arch was first used at the Festival of Cycling event and will also be used at the upcoming Market Harborough Carnival of Running.
For our final Dragon Soup of the season we’re going to go out with a bang so make sure you’re there. The meeting will take place on Tuesday 28th June 2016 at The Angel Hotel. Arrive from 12.45pm with the meeting properly starting at 1pm and ending by 2pm.
