Over 200 businesses from the Harborough area came together at the 2nd annual Harborough Business Expo 2015 on April 20th.
The event, which was organised by The Market Harborough Chamber of Trade and Commerce, is believed to be the first ever business-to-business event held in the town’s covered market. The expo included exhibition stands from around 30 local companies and visitors from large established firms in the town as well as a number of start-up businesses.
Activities included wine tasting from Duncan Murray on a stand organised by Ian Joule representing around 20 of the town’s restaurants and food retailers. Other exhibitors included one of the town’s longest established firms, builders WW Brown & Sons which was formed in 1895, as well as edibLE16 (www.edible16.org.uk), a local food hub that was formed in 2014. The Ideal Marketing Company also attended, sharing a stand with Race Harborough and LOROS.
“Smaller, locally owned businesses form an unusually large part of Market Harborough’s economy, so it was great to see so many of them here in force,” comments Alastair Campbell who is Vice President of the Chamber as well as MD of The Ideal Marketing Company. “The Harborough Chamber is all about connecting local businesses. Whether it is at our monthly meetings, social events or this type of forum, it is important that Harborough businesses are here to support one another.”
Plans are already in place to run the event again in 2016, following positive feedback from exhibitors and the delegates who attended.
The Harborough Chamber of Commerce is open to all companies based in Market Harborough or with branches based in the town. They meet up on the last Wednesday of every month.
