Why do two businesses offer much the same thing, yet one gets a stream of enquiries while the other hears nothing but silence?
Often it comes down to trust. When someone is weighing you up, they’re quietly asking one thing: “Can I trust this to work?” And the way you answer that question is proof.
Most owners reach straight for a testimonial. Testimonials are great, and you should absolutely gather them. But they’re only one piece of a much bigger picture. Proof comes in many forms, and the cautious buyers, the ones who take the most convincing, tend to want more than a kind word from a stranger.
Think about what you already have. A real example of your work. A number that shows the result you delivered. A clear explanation of your process, so nothing feels like a leap into the dark. A short case study. A relevant credential. Even a simple comparison that helps someone see why you’re the right choice. Each one shrinks the risk they feel. And the smaller the risk, the easier it is to say yes.
Here’s the encouraging part. You don’t need to invent this from scratch. Most of the proof you need is already sitting in your business, in past results, happy clients, and the steps you follow every day. The job is simply to bring it into the light where buyers can see it.
This week’s Ideal Marketing Minute walks through a simple prompt. Picture your most cautious buyer. What one piece of evidence would move them from “maybe” to “yes”? Then check whether your marketing actually shows it.
