A contestant in this year’s BBC1 show the Young Apprentice is coming to Market Harborough to meet local businesses. Alice Smith was picked from 28,000 applicants as one the final twelve budding young entrepreneurs to compete on the show. She will be conducting a Q&A at the January Business Agenda meeting, a free monthly networking group for businesses across Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.

The event will give local businesses the opportunity to grill Alice about her time on the Young Apprentice, revealing the behind-the-scenes demands of the show and what she gained from the experience. It will take place from 5pm-7pm on Tuesday 15th of January at the Innovation Centre in Market Harborough.

Alice, a seventeen year old student from Lutterworth, took part in the third series of the primetime BBC1 show which aired between October and December 2012. In the show, candidates take a leap from the classroom to the boardroom, embarking on a series of diverse tasks designed to test their business abilities.

“We are delighted to have Alice speaking at The Business Agenda. The Q&A promises to be highly informative and interesting, with Alice discussing her fresh approach to business and first hand experience of dealing with one of the country’s most successful entrepreneurs,” comments Alastair Campbell, one of the members of Working Breakfast. “The previous meetings have been a great success and we have received a lot of positive feedback, especially regarding our guest speakers. With a young talent like Alice bringing a new perspective to this month’s meeting, I am in no doubt that our members and their businesses will continue to benefit from attending.”

The Business Agenda is a free monthly networking event that has been set up by the Working Breakfast group, a not for profit organisation who meet weekly in both Leicester and Market Harborough for business owners across Leicestershire and Northamptonshire. The monthly meetings include a main speaker who discusses a variety of topics which are of interest to local businesses. So far, these have included management, marketing and cash-flow as well as topics suggested by members.
