We were delighted to hear that a band that is regularly played in the offices of The Ideal Marketing Company look set to hit the big time.

They were first brought to our attention by one of our Leicester based clients.  He played us 2 of their tracks towards the end of the meeting and it wasn’t long before they became firm favourites in the office.  Several members of the staff here have sought them out at their gigs in Leicester and Market Harborough.

So the word on the street is that they have been asked to travel to America to perform at two high profile summer music festivals.

Here’s a recent press release about what the boys are up to:

Freeway Mad have been around for several years and are regular performers in the area. Playing at local venues at places like The Shed and Enigma. But they are now heading across the Pond in May to play at Rocklahoma festival in Oklahoma. The only English group on the bill. The band cite rockers such as Iron Maiden, AC/DC and Led Zepplin as their musical influences.

freeway mad“We’ve got a great relationship with our fans in Leicester. We know the area well and have played at a number of the local live music venues” said George Twydell, lead guitarist. “In fact it was at one of the gigs we played at The Shed on Yeoman Street that we first played 2 tracks from our new album”.

The band came to the attention of Sam McCaslin, owner of Las Vegas based Retrospect Records who has run stages at Rocklahoma since 2009. Sam was impressed by the band’s energy and sound saying “Freeway Mad harkens back to the classic new wave of British heavy metal, with fiery axework and catchy hooks galore. That’s why I have got them over – check them out.”

Formed in 2013, the band have played extensively across the UK and Europe but this will be their first USA booking.

Rocklahoma runs from 27th to 29th May. Also on the bill are veteran rockers The Scorpions, Megadeth and Welsh band Bullet for my Valentine. Freeway Mad are looking forward to playing tracks from their forthcoming first album as well as their 2015 Dangerous EP.

Freeway Mad’s first Album, Underdogs is to be released in April and has been produced by musician John Mitchell of prog rock band Arena. John has also produced established rock bands such as Enter Shikari, You Me at Six and Alter Bridge who have all had major global chart success.

All of us at Ideal Marketing wish them every success, but hope that they will still perform in Leicester when the time permits.
