Look up leicester
Have you noticed the reverse graffiti around the streets in Leicester? If so, you may also know that the graffiti messages have been created by a group youngsters from a local charity to get people to ‘look up’ at the city’s best architecture.
The Focus Charity, which works with youngsters from isolated backgrounds, has been working on a project for the past year which looks at the things that make Leicester special.
In the early hours of the morning, with a pressure washer and stencil, the group washed pavements near to favourite bits of architecture, leaving “Look up, Leicester” marked on the floor.
Stuart Bailey, Chairman of Leicester Civic Society, commented: “I think it is a brilliant idea. It’s the architecture above shop front level which truly distinguishes the city. We have outstanding examples of Victorian brick and stone work, chimney stacks and ornate windows.”
The project not only encourages people to look closer at Leicester’s best buildings, but it also attracts visits to the Look up Leicester website and the Focus Charity page where people can learn more about the young people’s charity.
There are an endless amount of ways for you to promote your company or charity, but thinking outside the box can sometimes get the greatest results. Marketing communications can come in many forms – some more traditional than others – but if the message reaches the desired audience in a more obscure way, it can sometimes be more effective.
